A medical definition of fatigue in multiple sclerosis.

Mills RJ and Young CA

How did 40 clinically definite MSers define fatigue?

"Fatigue is defined as reversible, motor and cognitive impairment with reduced motivation and desire to rest, either appearing spontaneously or brought on by mental or physical activity, humidity, acute infection and food ingestion. It is relieved by daytime sleep or rest without sleep. It can occur at any time but is usually worse in the afternoon. In MS, fatigue can be daily, has usually been present for years and has greater severity than any premorbid fatigue."

Understanding Pain

"In today's episode, physical therapists Joseph Brence, PT, DPT, FAAOMPT, COMT, DAC, and John Ware, PT, MS, FAAOMPT, discuss where pain comes from, and how it works. These are important concepts because research suggests that simply understanding pain can improve an individual's ability to manage pain, and reduce its negative impact on daily life."
